Continue your Adventure

You are already an Open Water Diver and you want to increase your knowledge and discover new diving experiences.

Note: Before starting to read this section, please read the “ACUC Consumer Protection Policy

ACUC offers you many opportunities to do so. We recommend that the next step is to take the ACUC Advanced Diver course and then the ACUC Rescue Diver course.

THE ADVANCED DIVER COURSE

In this course you will learn more of the theory that you learned in the OWD course. You will also be introduced to some diving specialties, so that later it will be easier for you to decide which diving specialties you like best and which specialty courses you may want to do.

You will learn more about topics such as: Equipment Maintenance; Diving with reduced visibility (night diving, etc…); Diving in Confined Spaces (caves, wrecks, etc…); Underwater Navigation; Biology and Marine Ecology; Deep Diving (40 metres/130 feet); Basic notions of Navigation and Boats, etc…

This level can also be obtained by doing a specific number of specialties. You can see the ACUC standards, the course content and the requirements for this course in this PDF document.

THE RESCUE DIVER COURSE

This course is the minimum level that ACUC recommends that all its divers acquire. You must already be an Advanced Diver. This course will prepare you to recognize diving problems and emergencies before they occur, and if they do occur anyway, you will also learn how to react to and manage these problems and emergencies.

Candidates at this level must have up to date First Aid and Oxygen administration or take the ACUC Diving Emergency Responder (DER) and Oxygen Emergency Responder (O2ER) specialties during the course.

As a Rescue Diver, you can access the courses for professional levels of ACUC if you wish (See “Become a Professional”), or continue to obtain the recognition of “Master Diver”, “Master Plus Diver” or “Specialties Plus Diver” (see the graph the  ACUC Training Ladder).

You can see the ACUC standards, the course content and the requirements for this course in this PDF document.

Once you have obtained this level (Rescue Diver), you can, if you wish, do any ACUC specialty, in addition to those already mentioned above for Open Water and Advanced divers, such as:

  1. Teaching Assistant
  2. Underwater Guide, etc…

For more information about these specialty courses, please contact your nearest ACUC Instructor or ACUC at info@acucinternational.com
